Brief Description: Fuselage Bulkheads - Micro Edge Fill
I am planning to cut an aluminum instrument panel that will bolt to the composite instrument panel bulkhead. Essentially the top of the composite instrument panel will end up just being a picture frame with nutplates on the perimeter to mount the aluminum instrument panel. This would be more difficult to cut onse the fuselage is assmbled. I decided to make the majority of this cut out now, but left a wide "strap across what will be open space to maintain more rigidity for the fuselage assembly. This strap will be simple to remove somewhere way down the line. I cut these addtional openings on my router table using my original IP pattern with the additonal cutouts made. After the was done I decided to edge fill all the bulkhead openings with micro to seal them. This involves removing a small amount of foam from the edges of the openings. I did this with my dremel and a small rotory bit. This worked great! I then mixed up some micro and packed the edges.
