Yesterday I ended up not doing the cut on my hand any favors so I decided to try to scale back efforts for a few days! I took one of the angle scrape cut off pieces and mocked up what the counterbore and bolt clearance was going to look like. A 5/8' end mill did the trick. I am planning to put my bolts in this way as opposed to the plans method which would have the nuts on this side. I will be making up some 1/8' aluminum rectangular plates with nutplates on them to accept the bolt threads. These plates will increase the surface area of the clamping load like the large AN970 washer mod covered in many of the CSA Newsletters. Using nutplates will also allow re-torqueing of the bolts if needed in survice.
I resisted finishing up the brackets to save my hand! I will start up again in a few days.
