Brief Description:  Riveting the VS skeleton

After the squeeze riveting of the nut plates onto the upper spar cap the first of 2500 of LP4-3 pull rivets were put in place. This rivet puller (PRP26A) has a small head getting into the tight areas with little clearance.

Continued with the hand rivet puller on the lower spar cap. The puller started losing its grip on the rivet stems. After several disassembling exercises on the puller it was found the spring pushing the grip jaw experienced friction on the jaw. The jaw was polished on the polish wheel and it worked perfectly. Still trying to figure why sometimes only 2 squeezes does the trick and sometimes 3 are required - this breaks the momentum.

Started with skeleton by riveting the upper and lower main rivets first. The lining up of the lower main rib and the front spar rib flange corner holes is a problem as documented by others. This is left to be aligned during skinning of the skeleton.

Christiaan assisted in holding the parts while riveting.
