I missed FedEx yesterday and got a nice surprise today when FedEx arrived around 10:30am with my Empennage Kit. Almost immediately I tore into the kit and started the inventroy. Everything was there. There was an elevator skin that had the front corners bent down a little but I used a hand seamer and fixed that right away. It is the leading edge portion that you have to roll and pop-rivet, so no harm done.
I am amazed at the quality of the match punched kits. Even the difference from the RV-9 that I had in 2004 shows some progress. I did notice that several ribs were not prepunched, and I think that has to do with the way the HS is built with the sweeping leading edge.
Way better quality than the botched RV-4 wings/emp project that I bought last fall. The extra money for the RV-8 is definately worth it (really not that much more in aluminum kit costs, most put the money into engine/avionics on the RV-8's vs The RV-4's).
