Brief Description:  Prep'd the HS ribs

I notched the HS-404 ribs to fit around the HS-814/810 angles. I made sure to leave the flange as wide as I could because many have had edge distance problems with the rib to spar rivets. The left rib looks great, but I cut too much into the face of the rib on the right one (about 1/8"). It is more an appearance issue because there is too much clearance forward of the 814/810 angles. I may order another rib if it bothers me too much.

I match drilled all of the #30 holes for the rib to spar sectons on the left ribs. I fluted all the ribs except the inboard non prepunched ribs. I edged finished all the ribs and the left spars.

I then cleco'd the left skin on the HS understructure which was a pain. I had to rework the nose ribs to get it all to go together because I did not have a jig. Once it was together I clamped in the HS-405/404 ribs and marked thier approximate rivet position. I then fluted those ribs.

The plans say to pilot drill the HS-405 forward flange for the four rivets, but because of problems with edge distances on the 404 rib, I will use the 405 for the outer holes, and pilot drill the 404 for the critical inner holes where edge distance may be a problem (not likely because I left the flange wider than the plans)
