Brief Description:  Debured holes and edges of Spars/Ribs, dimpled and

Deburred the rivet holes in the ribs/spars and used a scotchbrite wheel to remove the tool marks from the spars and rear spar doubler. I also used a deburring tool and emery cloth to make all of the edges smooth.

The lower portion of the rear spar is flush riveted to sit against a fuselage bulkhead. I dimpled the front of the rear spar and countersunk the front of the spar doubler where it lies against the dimples.

I am planning on making my RV-8 a Fastback most likely using the Showplane's Fastback Kit. From what I have read you have to modify the forward bottom nose rib of the VS (VS-705). To clear the higher angle of the turtle deck the nose rib front has to be raised 5 degrees and the skin trimmed to match. Since I don't want to drill out rivets later, I did not match drill the VS-705 to the skin. I only match drilled it to the spar and will rivet it in place when I am positive about the fastback modification and have the plans in hand. I should be able to fit that rib in place later on, and worst case have to use 1/8" cherry max rivets to attach it to the front spar.

I dimpled all of the 3/32 rivet holes on the spars/ribs except where the empennage faring attaches at the botom of the VS as shown on the plans (I almost forgot).

I had progressed fairly quickly (it helps that I have done this before) and instead of working with the VS skin, I decided to prime the skeleton parts first.
