I continued with the oil service door in the upper cowling. After sizing the door, I then secured it in place with temporary clecos while I positioned the hinges and locking mechanisms. I made backing plates from aluminum strips and riveted them in place. I then riveted the hinges and locks to the cowling and backing plates. I had to insert some washers as spacers under the locking mechanism so that the door would lay flat along the cowling when closed. All of this was time consuming but it turned out nice.
