Brief Description:  First Engine Start

After the prep was done it was time for the first engine start. Although the engine was run for about an hour by AeroSport after it was built, this is the first time running on the airplane with my systems.

I rolled the plane out of the hangar, set chocks in place and tied the tail to my Expedition and set the parking brakes.

I went through the start checklist and cranked the engine. It started right up and ran very nice at 1000 RPM. Oil pressure was in the green at 25psi within a few seconds. All engine readings were normal. I then followed my checklist for the first engine run and wrote down the guage readings at various RPM settings. The prop cycled during a brief check.

I did notice some things that will need attention. The idle RPM was 740, probably a little high. During the ignition check with only the electric ignition operating the engine ran a little rough. The biggest item was the ammeter showing a discharge of -3.7 amps, so I'm not getting alternator output. I'll look into these in the next few days.

All in all a very good day and it's nice to finally have this milestone completed sucessfully.
