Brief Description: Replaced the Heat Valve on Firewall
I decided to replace the aluminum heater valve that was supplied with the original Van's kit with an aftermarket stainless steel valve. Testing showed that in the event of an engine fire, the aluminum valve would quickly melt allowing heat and gasses into the cockpit through a large hole. The stainless steel valve (along with the existing stainless steel firewall) would hold up much longer. I removed the old valve, installed nutplates on the new valve and installed onto the firewall. Sealer was used between the valve and firewall.
