Brief Description:  GPS and Autopilot Checks

I have been unable to get the GPS to receive satellite receiption due to a problem with the antenna feed to the GPS. The problem is likely in the antenna coax cable, but I wanted to eliminate the antenna or GPS unit as the problem before getting into the wiring. Today I connected the Garmin it's antenna with a RG400 cable and mounted it on an extension ladder and set it outside the hangar in a position with no possible interference from the hangars. The unit locked onto the satellites with no problem, so I know the reception problem is with the RG400 cable in the fuselage.

While I had the GPS up and running I went through the initial setup of that and the Digiflight autopilot where the interface with the GPS is checked.

I had to make a few changes to the settings on both units so that they could "talk" to each other. By following the manuals for the Garmin GPS and the Digiflight it was relatively easy to set everything up. All the tests were successful.
