Brief Description:  Spark Plugs Gapped and Installed

To prepare for the first engine start I gapped the spark plugs. My enigne will have two different plugs per cylinder due to having one electronic ignition and one magneto.

The lower plugs are standard aircraft plugs and are powered by the magneto. These are gapped at .016 - .021. I checked them and they were already set properly. When installed these plugs are torqued to 35 foot pounds. The ignition wires are put on finger tight, then another 1/8th turn.

The upper plugs are standard automotive plugs (a lot cheaper) and are powered by the electronic ignition. These need to have a gap of .032 - .040. I checked and had to make minor adjustments. The auto plugs need an insert that adapts the size of the auto plug to the plug threads on the cylinder. I used antisieze paste on the plugs and inserts. The inserts are torqued to 25 foot pounds and the auto plugs are torqued to 15 foot pounds as they go into the inserts.

For now I just installed the top plugs until after I pre-oil the engine.
