Brief Description:  Fit Wheel Pants

Once the wheel pants are rough trimmed I began to fit them to the attachment brackets on the gear. This has to be done with the weight off of the gear and the aircraft leveled. The idea is that the fairings need to be correctly aligned when the plane is in flight. You start by fitting the rear half of the fairing. A 1" spacer is taped to the top of the tire, and the aft end of the fairing is supported about 8 1/2" above the ground and the fairings forward edge is aligned with the outer attach bracket, and the centerline of the tire is aligned with the centerline of the fairing, and both the front and rear of the fairing are equidistant from the aircraft centerline. When all of these are correct, the fairing is drilled to the attachment plate.

None of this is too difficult, just very time consuming. I also made some more trims to the wheel pants opening to allow the gear leg and tire enough clearance.
