Brief Description:  Folding Wing Option

The Folding Wing Option (FWO)
Today I installed the FWO. Still a bit conflicted with the pros and cons. A major concern is that the FWO adds an extra 2.359 kg empty weight. However, having moved the wings and the fuselage separate on more than one occation, and probably have to move them again before the plane can be flown legally, I wanted to be able to trailer the entire rig with a regular car and without having to disasseble the tail section ever again.

It did take quite a bit of courage to cut and drill into a finished door frame to fit the cross tube, However, it worked out reasonable well without having to remove any door frame parts. I was glad that the supply and return fuel line were not installed yet, which gave me access from behind to properly fasten the bolts that hold the cross tube in place. Another useful unintended consequence of the cross tube placement is that it would be strong enough to attach shoulder harnesses.

I still have to test the functionality, how easy the wings fold back once everything is hooked up.
