I want to have a full size ipad mounted to the instrument panel to run aviation applications like FlyQ or foreflight and mabey even movies for the wife on long cross countries. It needs to fit in the same panel cut-out for the Dynon d-1000 skyview, in case i upgrade to a two skyview panel later. I have a very old ipad 2 that dosn't quite fit. It tuns out that the newer ipad air and pro have slightly smaller footprints than the old ipad 2. It looks like it just might fit with some fancy design work. The other nice thing about the new ipad air and pro is that the screen is very sun-light readable, the ipad 2 is completly unredable in direct sunlight. So- I get a new ipad. I build the basic frame from .032 6061-T6 sheet. I will need to add a slider assembly to the upper left had side for the RCA audio jack.
