Brief Description:  Canopy Plexiglass installation trick

Fit-up and trimed the canopy plexiglass. As noted by previous (faster) builders, the rollbar does not match the windshield arc perfectly. The canopy plexiglass has to be shimed up a lot to match the windshield. Most builders have had to elongate the holes in the plexiglass after discovering that pre-drilling the holes without shiming the canopy mislocated the holes whin they are later shimed.
A fellow S-19 EAA builder, Don Hall, gave me this tip on how to do it. You drill full size and instll the rivnuts only the canopy frame ( don't match drill the canopy plexiglass) then shim the canopy frame with plastic washers, using a countersunk screw (the PW-4 washers used in the kit for the aft cargo close-out works well). place the blank canopy plexiglass over the screwheads, add remove plastic washers as necessary to fair with the windshield. Then drill the canopy plexiglass into the center of the countersunk screwhead. this worked well for me. The plexiglass holes are perfectly centered over the rivnut holes in the frame.
