Spent the day making the fuel tank sides and skin. Originally figured I'd weld or have them welded. Now I'm thinking Pro-Seal may be the best way to go seeing as how a fair number of other builders are using Pro-Seal and are satisfied.
After having made the fuel tank per the plans I'm not totally satisfied with it. in particular the large gap thats left at the seem. Some gap is to be expected, but that reversed seem (seem on the right in picture number 2) doesn't make a lot of sense to me now that I'm looking at it. Dave Clay had a better design from the looks of it and I may go with his design instead. Even so, the Pro-Seal may seal that up, but it's an unneccesarily large gap in the first place due to the reverse bend for the flanges to meet for the outside seem. I may redo the entire tank. Not a biggy, only $20 worth of metal. just sucks that I kind of wasted a day for my first day back in the garage in over 6 months after busting my butt doing house fixup and repairs since May and now I can look forward to wasting another weekend day in the near future replacing my timing belt in my car. Ugh.
