Two weeks ago, I contacted Akzo Nobel for my painter to ensure the proper process was beig used for priming the parts. This afternoon I got the official word on the process! Per Brian Ulrich, at Akzo: "Recommended surface prep over bare aluminum would be a light scuff with scotch brite (if possible) followed by a solvent wipe. If scuffing with a scotch brite is not feasible due to the type, size or location of the part then at a minimum the part needs to be as clean as possible using solvent or a cleaner/adhesion promoter like our SP-1050." I happilly informed my painter.
Today I dimpled the remaining outer skin. All that remains is machine CSK on the R-1006, something I think would be best to consult an expert in the shop on.
