Step 4: Set up temporary test circuit using the Autopilot disconnect, my 12V drill battery and some wire. Connected the wires as described in the plans. Inserted the Fuselage Pin Stopper into the Fuselage Pin Latch. At this time the light of the Autopilot disconnect should light. It did not.
The end of the WD-1217 tube was located at the center of the end of the Reed Switch. At this point I began to remove material from the end of the tube in 1/64" increments (plans suggest 1/32") as recommended by the plans. It was not until I had removed the maximum of 1/8" that the light illuminated with the Fuselage Pin Stopper fully engaged. However the light remained on when the Stopper was disengaged, violates the plan requirements. Notified Van's Support. They didn't have an immediate solution.
Step 6: Checked hardware installed for pin switches for tightness.
