Brief Description: Insulating the firewall and installed boots
Insulating the firewall and installed boots for the push rods, This is something I decided to do on my first XL after flying and getting a warning from a carbon monoxide detector. What had happened was that my exhaust had developed a crack and gases were leaking into the cabin through the small opening where the front gear push rods go through the firewall. I found some CV Joint Boots that fit just right. Installing these once the aircraft is assembled is a very difficult task so I made a point of installing them on the firewall before any assembly was done. Also installed a ground bus terminal on each side of the firewall. These terminals were left over from my first XL and were farbicated by flatenning a 1/2" copper pipe and riveting/soldering a series of terminals on it.. it works great!
