Brief Description:  Problem Issue

Moved painted empennage parts to airport hangar. Trying to now get fuselage ready for painting. Added pro-seal to ledge behind forward canopy skin to cover gap. This smoothed out the wavy supports, but didn't help with the canopy gap. After more struggling with this gap, we released the pins holding the canopy in place, and the canopy then fit down nicely against the forward top skin. This means that the pin holes were cut too high on the support blocks. The issue now is what to do! The two options are: 1) Remove the blocks and drill new holes, then replace the blocks. Or, 2) Adjust the bearing holes in the canopy. The issue with the first choice is access to the blocks now that the cover has been riveted in place. The issue with option two is how to do this. It will require removing the current bushing, welding in a replacement solid metal piece, then re-drilling new holes (from inside the cabin - pilot hole first), and then replacing the busing. At least most of the work can be done outside on the canopy frame. We're planning to proceed with this option. We'll report our results when completed!
