Brief Description:  The RV9A

Van's RV9A is a two place side-by-side aircraft designed for sport flying. When completed it will weigh about 1050 pounds and with the 160 horsepower engine will cruise at about 188 miles per hour at 75 percent power at gross weight. With a full tank of 36 US gallons that will give it a range of about 730 statute miles (well beyond my bladder tolerance!). It will take off and land in less than 500 feet with a slow stall speed of 51 miles per hour.In size it is slightly smaller than the Piper/Cessna airplanes with a wing span of 28 feet, a length of 20 feet 5 inches, and a height of 7 feet 10 inches. It has a sizeable baggage area behind the two occupants which is designed for 100 pounds of baggage. The principal reason for building an RV9A is the excellent performance of the RV9A and it's 'fun-to-fly' quality. I can't wait to get it in the air and experience the 'RV grin'!The image is of a completed RV9A (not ours obviously!) so you can see what the completed aircraft will look like.
