Brief Description:  Fuel Tank Prep (continued)

Today was like Christmas in July (oops - its August), oh well. Got five boxes of stuff. Photo #1 shows the tools I got. From left to Right - safety wire pliers, tubing bender, Tubing Flare tool, Wire Crimpers, automatic wire strippers (these things are hot), flycutter, and a nutplate jig. Need most of these to finish the wing construction. Also got my landing and taxi lights, some "how to" videos for systems, fiberglass, and fuselage construction, one of two deluxe gas gaps that lock (the second is on backorder), wing tiedowns, and some cable tees for the conduit. After unpacking all of this, I went back to work. Started on the right fuel tank skin. Deburred and dimpled the skin after removing the blue protective film. Then I started work on the capacitance fuel level senders. Photo #2 shows the two metal strips that will mount to two internal ribs and measure the fuel level. These will be mounted once the ribs are installed. Then I drilled out the large holes for tank access in the inboard tank ribs, installed the nutplates and reinforcing strip as shown in photo #3. Should finish up all the prep work tomorrow and be ready the next day to start assembling and sealing the tank.
