Brief Description:  Empennage Complete!

To complete the day's work I marked the left elevator control horn as shown in photo #1 and then drilled that hole. Then I installed both elevators and attached the control horns to the hinge bearing on the HS. I then checked all the alignment and freedom of movement and it all looks great. Only problem is that the right elevator counterbalance weight seems like it might be too light (maybe I cut off too much per the plans - will wait and see - may have to figure a way to add more weight instead of take some off). Finally, I went ahead and pulled out the Vertical Stab and rudder and assembled them - still need to make some fine tune adjustments to the lengths of the rod end bearings but that can wait for installation on the empennage later. Although I was tempted to put on my flight suit and helmet for a "photo op" with my completed tail section, I decided to just let the photos speak for themselves. Now while waiting for the wings do I work on some fiberglass or not?
