Brief Description:  modified ignition distributor

I purchased an after market hi performance ignition distributor. I converted the bulleted aluminium distributor to use 2 Crane ((Fast) electronic modules. I used the distributor without any of the original electronics only the bottom mounting plate. This distributor has a bearing at top and a bushing on bottom housing. I used the reluctor on the distributor shaft and modified the size to accomindate the 2 module magnetic pickups. I set the advance for a total of 28 degrees. I use the recommended springs for an early ignition full advance below 2700 rpm. I degreed the distributor housing and temperary marked the degrees for 20 to come up with a total 28 degrees with an initial static 8 degrees. I will test this distributor on my engine in the test stand only. I will use the ignition distributor I purchased from William Wynns for any testing of actual flights. I wouldn't use my distributor for an actual flight utill it was run hard and tested on the ground. I wanted to see if I could actualy build a flight worthy distributor. I can say it turned out quit well so far. I need to disassemble and locked tight the mounting screws and install the drive gear. The module wires from the 2 pickups need to be run through the grammet in the bottom of housing and away from rotating parts inside distributor. I seen on the net Willam Wynns pile of distributors he experimented with over the years to come up with a reliable flight distributor. The type of after market distributor I used is actualy in that pile.William has another proto type distributor he is working on right now.
