Brief Description: Wing crate #2 finally arrives - severely damaged
|
|
Excitement quickly turned to disappointment and disbelief when wing crate #2 (spars etc) finally arrived 9 days after wing crate #1. Despite both sturdy crates being shipped at the same time, they became separated at LAX when the spar crate was "short loaded" I believe is the term.
When the courier arrived I could see immediately that things were not as they should be, and in fact a part, ( that I now know to be a spar), had broken through the end of the crate. I advised the driver of the damage and noted this on the delivery docket before signing .
As it turned out, this was only the minor damage, as worse was to come as I unpacked the crate. It appears that this crate had been dropped on at least 3 separate occasions which caused extensive damage to the wing spars (see pics) and also lesser damage to all the other components in the crate.
I immediately advised the freight company, and also Vans, of the damaged components, including many pics.
I am pleased to advise that this has a happy ending, with Vans replacing the entire crate contents and re-shipping, at no cost to me. They really are as good as you have heard.
