Brief Description:  First Flight !!!

Did an "unofficial" first flight the prior weekend. That one didn't count! Temps were going over the red line, and I immediately landed because the mixture seemed too lean, power weak, needed tweaking. (flew fine, though). THE OFFICIAL FIRST FLIGHT was Saturday, with a Rich mixture, lower cowling openings increased, and a few other tweaks, Temperatures stayed in the green (sweet!) and it flew great. Landed soon to take care of alternator CB (tripping because CB was unde ) and the throttle travel at WOT needed to be restricted. At full throttle the engine would balk and loose power - throttle slide travelling too far open. With those fixes in place, a 2nd test flight the following morning yeilded a 40 MINUTE DREAM. Hard steep turns, awesome climbs, 3k ft over runway, it flew so awesome - wow what visbility, handled like a fighter plane. What a lot of fun. Landed super solid smooth. One funny incident: I tested the smoke system and it works! Too well, however, as within 30 seconds the cabin was filled with smoke! The air vents quickly blew it clear after turning it off. Funny scare, just need to seal up the firewall better. All in all - I'm very happy with the overall results and progress. Just need to solve Crappily Rich Idle and I think we're in great shape for long term 40hr fly-off of time.
