Brief Description:  Rivet Spar and Upper Skin

Riveted the spar to the nose ribs with LP4-3 blind rivets. Clecoed the upper skin in place and clecoed an angle onto the TE for stabilization. There were some areas on the upper nose skin that would not lie flat when clecoed. I removed the clecos and shifted the skin a bit, the reinserted the clecos in a different order, but I couldn't get rid of the oil canning.

When I started riveting I tried to push hard on skin to press it flat with mixed results. Some areas I was able to flatten pretty well but there were a couple of others that I could get closer but not entirely flat.

The end ribs were riveted to the spar using my newly acquired extended rivet set and small bucking bar. I did have one rivet that has a prominent smiley on it, but reviewing Section 5 it says this is acceptable. This area is pretty tight and trying to remove that rivet could result in more damage. I felt it best to leave it alone. It's internal so no one but me and readers of this blog will ever know it's there.

I can't progress any further on the ailerons until I get a new TE wedge. The Vans website shows the order hasn't been sent yet. I'll move onto the OB leading edge while I wait for parts.
