Brief Description:  Dimpled Stiffeners

Tonight was a short session. I dimpled the rudder stiffeners using the substructure dimples. These make a dimple 0.007 in. deeper than the regular dimples which gives you a better fit.

I studied the plans for the upcoming work and it seems I jumped the gun on priming the skins. The trailing edge wedge is supposed to be attached to the skin with double sided tape. I've also heard of builders using ProSeal or JB Weld to accomplish this. The plans say to rough the skin where the wedge sits but leave it unprimed. Well I missed that little note and primed the interior a couple of weeks ago.

So now the question is do I need to remove the primer back to the bare metal or leave it and proceed? I'm not sure of the logic here. It shouldn't be a matter of adhesion as the wedge is riveted between the skins. The primer will help with corrosion prevention should any moisture get in between the wedge and the skin. I'm leading towards leaving it alone, but I'll drop Van's an email and see what they think.
