Brief Description:  Trim, Match Drill, Deburr and Flute Replacement VS

So I bought a new VS front spar and a couple of the ribs to replace the ones my bungled attempts to drill out some rivets rendered unusable. I spent today reprocessing them to get ready for my next batch of priming.

The front spar was trimmed to the doubler (again) and holes were match drilled (again). I held off doing the dimples until after priming.

The tip rib was deburred (again) and the two forward holes were match drilled per the plans (again).

Just to add insult to injury, I was discussing the rework with Jay and he pointed out something in Section 5 that made me both happy and angry. In small print in the section describing all the things that can go wrong with rivets, it said "Creased head: Rivet gun allowed to bounce - rivet OK but looks bad".

Now the big boys (think stock symbol BA) don't allow this condition to pass quality check, so I used the same criteria. After this experience, I'll leave smilies alone. I botched things up badly trying to fix a condition that was acceptable in the EAB world. Lesson learned.
