Brief Description:  Drilling, Deburring and Dimpling the VS Skin

I finished the final drilling of all the VS skin holes into the substructure and disassembled everything. My friend Jay came over and with his help I got all the dimpled all the holes in the skin. That really is a two-person job.

This was my first chance to use the DRDT-2 dimple press and I really like it. Once it's properly set up it produces consistant high quality dimples with very little physical effort. I've read comments on the Vans Air Force web site from people who claim the dimples are not as crisp as the C-frame impact dimpler. Based on my results, I think those people didn't have the proper set up or were using a lower quality dimpling set or both. My dimples are dead flat with zero distortion around the holes.

With the help of Jay and his truck I got all the parts and supplies necessary to build my spray booth. I'll tackle that tomorrow.

I don't think it's possible to get better dimples than this.
