Brief Description:  Figuring out countersinking, part two

I had planned to build my spray booth this weekend, but Home Depot and Lowe's do not carry the 3-way corner fittings and the 4-way fittings in store so I'll have to get them shipped. Oops! Bad planning on my part.

In the meantime I revisited my countersink issues and experimented some more to try and work out the chattering problem. After more trial and error it seems the best way is to go VERY slowly with VERY light pressure. When I did that the chattering stopped and the chips produced went from small individual particles to long, curly strips of aluminum. You could feel the difference in the way it cut. Instead of biting and ripping out chunks it was peeling off the aluminum.

I proceeded slowly and carefully on the VS-808PP doubler and got great results. I looked at each hole through a 5X jeweler's loupe and the surface of each C/S looked almost polished. On two of the holes I got a bit too agressive and it started to chatter a little. I could see the chatter marks clearly radiating out from the center of the hole, but they weren't too bad.
