Brief Description:  Life gets in the way & paint booth repair

So I had intended to do priming of my left elevator parts right after my last entry. However, stuff happened and I found myself needed to do some higher priority work before I could work on the plane.

I need to rebuild the pergola in the front of my condo. It was torn down by the HOA about three years ago due to rot. A contractor would have charged me $3k to rebuild that, but that was too much for me so I decided to do it myself. I had to do some research to find out how to do it to the current building code. Without going into too much detail, the wood has been termite treated and painted. I'll put it up next weekend with the help of one of my neighbors who works in construction. Doing it myself will save me $1600 over the contractor's bid. To add to my non-aviation tasks, my closet shelf and rod collapsed last week and I haven't had any time to deal with it. When it rains...

When I examined the booth it was in need of repair. The filters needed replacement and the velcro that holds the plastic sheeting together had let go in several places. I tried to put new velcro in place but there was too much overspray on it and nothing would stick. I had no choice but to re-skin a portion of the booth.

Today I put new sheet on the far wall and I'll completely redo the front sheeting around the fans. Instead of two separate sheet I'll just wrap the side around the front. I'm also going to replace the floor as it was getting pretty ratty. I think I can still use the existing door side, top and back. All in all I'll replace half of the sheeting. At least that's the plan. Today I only got the one side done before I ran out of enengy and desire.

Next weekend is the pergola build and I'll finish the re-skinning of the booth. Priming to follow.
