Brief Description:  Drill and deburr front spar caps and cap doublers

This part of the HS build makes me glad to have a kit that has mostly prepunched holes. That's because the spar cap doublers need to be match drilled. There are no holes in the cap doublers. I'm guessing that's due to the significant bow in the doublers and match drilling gives you the best fit. Well, either that or they needed to put more work on the builder to meet the 51% requirement.

I started freehand drilling the spar cap until I remembered I had a drill guide. It really helps get a straight, perpendicular hole. All of the holes common to the doubler and spar were drilled with a #40 bit. I disassembled and deburred all the newly drilled holes.

The next step calls for clecoing the spar web doubler and final drilling the #30 holes and match drilling a few 3/16 and 1/4 in holes. It was after dark so I'll do the drilling over the weekend.

I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do on Saturday because I'm going to the Chino airshow. Sean D. Tucker is flying and since he's retiring from solo performing after this season this is one of the last times I'll get the opportunity to see him.
