Brief Description:  Empennage kit inventory, Part 2

I got the rest of the smaller parts out of the crate and into the racks/shelves. It looks like only three parts are damaged. The rear elevators spars both got dinged with one worse than the other. Also damaged was a trim tab skin.

Both of these parts were packed in a long bundle with the horizontal stabilizer spars which is a long C-channel (about 9 feet or so). A close inspection of the HS spar didn't reveal any damage, but I'll strip off the blue film and take a real close look at it over the weekend.

On one elevator spar (P/N E-00902-1) a flange was partially sheared off. The other spar flange was located on the opposite side of the crate, but the impact jammed it up against the crate wall and bent the flange slightly. The only way I'd accept the slightly damaged spar is if I had verification that there are no cracks from the impact. Either a HFEC (High Frequency Eddy Current), or dye penetrant inspection would be sufficient. However, it's more trouble than it's worth so I'll just ask Vans for a replacement. FedEX is paying for it so why not?

Also damaged was P/N E-01407, trim tab bottom skin. The corner on one side was bent up. Scrap time.

I still have all the little bags to go through and sort the hardware into my hardware storage bins.
