Even though I believe it would have been fine to continue after discussions with a lot of people (thanks everyone), I got new parts and began again. It was more a first ding in the new car sort of thing.....
I have made a fair bit of progress, drilling and deburring... I will look at the countersinking and skin fittment later this week if all goes well.
I have had a great chat and meeting with a couple of guys from our Chapter.20 (Kyneton) and thier thoughts and setups gave me some good information. Thanks guys (Peter and Anson).
My major issue at present is what I am going to do regarding primers. I have been completing some online research and there appears to be a valid non-chromium (read very bad chemicals) alternative that is as effective as chromium based products (industry standard corrosion prevention).
The only issue is that I cannot get enough information together to decide...... Also it is realitively new technology and I am a little concerned about the long term effacacy of the product.
Lets see: - Chromium bad, plane outlasts you - Non-chromium good, plane may NOT outlast you.....AND as yet untested
