Brief Description:  Painting and assembly of cowl baffle

Over the weekend, Dad and I worked on the baffling of the engine. I decided to try the default baffling material and process and then later, if required, I will go the plenum route.

I was struck down tonight however, when while resetting the altimeter to compare to the AFS stuff the knob failed to operate. I have emailed Winter Germany to see what I am to do about it, however I have had no reply.

This altimeter appears doomed as it has gone through the foillowing to get to here.

1. Purchased from a reseller, however, provided with incorrect pressure readings: Inches Mg rather than Millibars
2. Returned and an alternate provided with incorrect hand markers
3. Returned and supplied with a case that had obviously been installed in an aircraft previously and the mounting screws were damaged
4. Finally returned and now the unit does not work at all.

I think that this is just a dodgy unit and needs a complete replacement.

That being said, Archim Winter has been quite good to work with. I am not in the air and he has helped to try and rectify any issues as they occured. I am sure it is just one of those things in aviation where all of the swiss cheese holes lined up....
