Brief Description:  Right Elevator

Right Elevator - Match drilled the skin to the spar and ribs; assembled the counterbalance skin, ribs and weight. Shaped the weights for both the left and right elevators. Dimpled and machine countersunk both counterbalance skins/weights.

Elevator horn - Started assembling the elevator control horn to the spar and root rib. Noticed that the holes on the root rib and elevator horn didn't match. The holes were at least a half of a hole off (see picture). After a lot of checking, called Vans technical support and spoke to a tech (Kevin). After discussing the issue and the possible options, the only option that seemed to be viable was to add a doubler plate (matching the elevator horn flange) inside of the root rib. Also, add up to two new fresh holes through the horn flange, rib and doubler plate. Checked the left elevator horn against the spar and root rib and it has the same issue. So, I will be fabricating 2 doubler plates to rectify the issue.

The first pic with the right elevator appears to have a bad wave/dent in the skin. It is ok, it has this wave in it because I removed the stiffeners to prevent inadvertently bending them. I didn't want to flatten the trailing edge until after dimpling and riveting the stiffeners.
