Brief Description:  Caution: Engine side panels

Pic. 1 shows the left side cowling EN-021.

Pic 2 shows the inside of the left side cowling

In Pic. 1 note the placement of the 1/4 " bolt. Pic 2 shows the presence of another 1/4" hole above the bolt shown in Pic 1. Caution: virtually all of the drawings in my Manual (copyright 2008 but with most pages dated in 1999, 2008 and 2009) show the presence of two 1/4 " holes in these two positions. Page 13-10 instructs you to install a nutplate in the top 1/4" hole. See step 11.

The nut plate that you are directed to add to both R and L side cowlings of both engine mounts are not used anywhere. See for example the drawings on the following pages, the Copyright page,
13-8, 13-10 thru 13-5. According to Lance the nut plates have not been used since 1996 and there is no reason to install these nutplates. Aside from the unnessary work it took to install these. Now I will have to place short 1/4" bolts into the holes just so they will appear cosmetically correct from the outside.

I do not understand why Lockwood will not create a master Manual which incorporates all changes made so that builders can compare follow the new plans. That Manual could not only incorporate the correct plans but would also save time by using the new part numbers.
