Design layout completed on left and right. The painter will shoot the colors (no hints here) for the stripes and the remaining topcoat color will follow. The fuselage has been at the painter's for a month but I always get the same good natured answer to the question: "when can I pick it up." The answer is always "Tomorrow."
I used a paint mask from Scheme Designers which was a little cheaper than having the painter lay out the design by hand. The long length of the fuselage increases the difficulty of placing the mask. Although we used a soapy water solution to ensure we could move the mask as required after about 1/2 of the mask it secured to the fuselage it is difficult to move the remainder of the design without creating waves in the mask. Towards the tail section the painter had to use his own skills to make the lines from each side of the fuselage meet as drawn.
