Brief Description:  Rudder Finished

After finishing the skeleton, it was time to assemble the whole rudder together. I had to buy some RTV for the intersection of the stiffners and the training edge, This was a fairly painless process of of spreading the bent skins, putting in a generous amount of RTV and then letting the structure squeeze around the RTV once the skeleton was in.

I managed to use the squeezer for all of the rivets, there last few rivets on each of the ribs will have to be done with the rivet squeezer. I was quite pleased that I didn’t use a single pop rivet when attaching the skin to the skeleton.
I then moved onto rolling the leading edge, this was done as per vans instructions, with a bit of massage it came out alright.

I couldn’t help myself, and had to try and hang the rudder on the vertical stab, with a bit of adjustment it is starting to look good. I have a bit more adjustment to go and then I can start messing around with the fiberglass tips! A great days work!
