Brief Description:  Skin, Spar and Ribs

Work has kept me very busy over the previous two weeks, however this blog post summarises the small bits and pieces that I have completed over the past two weeks, around four hours of work, a lot of this time was consumed in setup, cleaning and prep and pack up, and not too much work in-between.

The reinforcing angle brackets were deburred, the corresponding holes on the skin were deburred and dimpled. I am still waiting on ordering another set of dimple dies so I can turn down the original dimple dies to fit in the small crevices of the reinforcing brackets, then I’ll dimple the brackets.

I am building this slightly out of order, my idea is to have everything fitting neat and tight, disassemble, prime, then rivet. Will look really nice when done, shame it won’t be flying!

Next I assembled the ribs, skins and spars with cleco and clamps, ensured it was squared and then commenced drilling as per the instructions. Its starting to look pretty neat, will be nice with all the flush rivets fitted.

All I need to do is now clamp and fit the trailing edge as per the instructions, make a neat drilling jig and then drill the trailing edge and strip in position. I will the mark and disassemble and then start the deburring, dimpling and countersinking.
