Brief Description:  Smoke System Install 5

The tank is a close fit to the canopy locking tube on the tip-up model. Since I didn't yet cut the holes to let the canopy locking device down through the gusset on each side of the fuselage, I chose to space the canopy locking tube forward by 1/8 inch by using a spacer on each side. The tank has two extended aluminum "feet" that need trimmed to fit nicely above the floor panels where the seat belts get bolted on. I trimmed almost 1 inch off each side. With the tank clamped in place, I drilled through the seat belt anchors into each tank ''foot'', and also at the top into the cross brace. I used all 1/4 inch bolts in the 4 holes. What a really nice fit. There is minimum space between the canopy lock tube and the upper part of this tank, but they do completely clear each other. Just in case, I'll add some non-friction tape in that area. Very pleased with this install. I'll remove, smooth the corners, and paint it.

Realized I need seat belt anchor bushings to let seat belt rotate when nut is tightened up each side.

Tank hides nicely out of the way. Also had to reinstall side panels and floor to mount pump hardware.
