Brief Description: Made Canopy Lift Strut Hardware
The kit comes with some flat 1/8 inch bar plus a piece of thick 1/2 x 3/4 bar which you measure up and cut out shapes. The thicker bar parts get drilled #21 to tap for 10/32 machine screws and #F for 5/16 tap to thread in the ball studs. I need to borrow my friend's #F bit (.257) or else I will use a 1/4 inch bit and wobble it just a little so I can tap the hole for 5/16. Instead of fumbling around in very tight area behind the canopy deck rail to secure the aft end of this lift strut, I made a mounting plate with nut plates that I can just push in place with a finger from behind while I catch it with the 8/32 mounting machine screws from the opposite side. Makes mounting that hardware much easier. I will double check measurements before drilling holes into canopy deck rails and forward canopy frame to mount these struts. Want to make it right. Also will countersink mounting holes on the thicker pieces.
Top hardware gets mounted inside the forward canopy frame to hold one end of lift strut.
Assembed stuff at bottom gets mounted on canopy deck rail to hold aft end of lift strut.
