Brief Description: Machinery breaks down now and then
My old PUMA 2HP compressor is 25 years old. It decided it could not put out more than 80PSI anymore right in the middle of my drilling the aileron spars. Fix it or trash it? My wife knows the answer. I fix everything and only trash things under extreme pressure for space or peace in the family. But, in the meanwhile HF had fathers day specials going so I picked up a new 2HP compressor for $99. It worked fine. Then, I tore down the air engine and found new rings for $8.00 and after honing the cylinder, cleaning all the air valves and putting in the new rings, I threw it back together and it puts out 115PSI again. Take back the Harbor Freight one? No way. I'll take it to the hanger when I get to that point and I'll have one at home too. Last picture shows my band saw blade broken while I was cutting the aileron stiffeners. I had about 1/2 done at that point so I reverted to tin snips to finish the raw cuts before sanding and polishing the whole group. Back to Lowes for a new band saw blade. 18 tooth for metal.
