Brief Description:  Non Stop drive with the Kit from Henderson NV

What an experience this whole beginning process was. My son owned this kit and had great plans to build this fantastic aircraft. What the heck!! He was a pilot in the Air Force, still flies in the Air Force Reserve, is a captain with Alaska Airlines, maintains his A&P and all his general aviation instructor ratings!! He also taught me to fly more than 15 years ago. Trouble was that after he purchased it, his unit was reactivated for the Gulf Wars and he could never get time off to build it. With me retiring 12/31/08, I couldn't wait to begin building the RV-6A. I know it was disappointing to my son to see it go, but he never began building it and probably never would with the demands of his military, civilian, and home life. Problem solved. Besides, I told him he could have it when I went to that big airpark in the sky some day.
HE HAD A BIG SURPRISE for me when I flew out to Henderson, NV. I will tell that story soon.

I flew out to Las Vegas to meet up with my son Paul so we could build a transport trailer to bring the RV-6A kit to Florida. He found an old boat trailer for $75 and after stripping off the boat stuff he started constructing a container from scratch using lumber and pressboard. By the time I got there, it was 75% done. We finished it, loaded up all the parts and sealed it up. Probably cost $300 in supplies. It was 19 feet from nose to tail, and included an inspection opening cut out, framed, and reattached with screws to get past the Homeland Security "trailer inspection" before crossing the Hoover Dam. I had a great time spending some work time with my son even though we were pressed for time. Here was the plan.
1) Buy and convert a boat trailer... done.
2) Meet my brother-in-law Gregg Eisele the next day. Gregg was flying in from Philadephia to help with the non stop drive home...and what a great help Gregg was. I couldn't have done it without him. He arrived Saturday afternoon, October 11.
3) Take my brother-in-law to see Vegas. This was his first time there.....
