The upper attach bolt required different size spacers to fill the void. The overall gap between these elevator horns was 1.22", requiring a longer bolt than noted on the plans. The lower elevator horn bolt, which connects the stick to the elevators via the control tube, also makes the elevators operate in unison permanently. I clamped the elevator and horizontal stabilizer together at the counterweights. I made a spacer 1.22" wide and put two pilot holes in it; #30 and .187 reamer. Used tube cutter to make 2 spacers @036" to fill the gap along with the .50" bearing. The most aft elevator horn was marked 3/8" from the foreward and bottom edges of the horn. Drilled #30, fitted the spacer in place and continued through the spacer pilot hole to drill the opposite side horn. Repeated with the .187 reamer/drill to complete the squared up hole.
