Manual Reference:  Left Wing Problem
Brief Description:  Fit wings to fuselage 2nd of 4 times-4

This left wing was built by previous kit owner. It has a problem. If I sweep the left wing forward to be plumb, there is insufficient edge distance at the rear spar to give me 5/8 clearance everywhere for the 5/16 attach bolt. It needs 1/4 in more length. Said another way, if I have required rear spar edge distance, the wing would have aft sweep of about 3/4 inch. Guess what that means. Drill out the W407B and W407D doubler. Did I say the wing was riveted already and there are about 30 rear spar rivets to remove and replace. The only rib holes in this wing walk area large enough to reach into is the furthest away from the rear spar. And, I would have to be able to reach into the 5th rib to buck the rivets. Granted they are close together because of the wing walk structure, but this is not good. I may drill out the lower skin for those 5 ribs to reach in from underneath to get this done and then rivet the lower skin back on again. The W407B and W407D doubler on the wing extend 1 1/8 from rear spar end. Its supposed to extend at least 1 3/8, so there is the problem. The new W407B is 9/16" longer so I'll get the needed distance out of it and the new doubler I'll make.

5/8 edge distance requires the two lines to be matched. Its 1/4 inch short.
