Spent yesterday and today scotchbriting, priming, painting, assembling, and riveting these access panels. Nut plates were fairly simple to add, although one cover required moving two corner nutplate holes slightly after the standard nutplate jig holes were drilled. It was easier to change to a single leg nutplate, using one of the original AD3 attach holes and then drill a new 2nd attach hole after rotating the nutplate to proper location. I just filled the original standard AD3 hole with an AN426AD3-3 rivet. Middle picture shows it. I anticipated slight distortion from dimpling the cover plates for the #8 screws, but that did not happen. However, one dimpled hole had to be filed slightly to remove an edge that was catching the screw threads. Such is life making an airplane....
Backing plates riveted in place. No issues. All good.
No distortion on cover plates. Note opposite corner one leg nutplates to fix mislocated pilot hole.
