Brief Description:  Time to start making holes in a very expensive hul

Today I measured and marked the transom where the boom tube will sit and pass through. Made sure to measure twice (three times) because you don't want to mess this up. cutting was not a one time thing either. I went back and filed anonther layer in order to get the brackets to sit better on the stringers all the while remembering the fact that the turtledeck must fit flush on the boomtube. Always read ahead. I am going to hold off on cutting the hole for the push-pull tube until the cage is in its final position on the stringers. Maybe will only effect measurements by 1/4" due to boom adjustments.

I have determined to skip ahead a few steps and backtrack later. Meaning, cut the holes in the transome and the side of the hull for the bulkhead, but then pull out the frame and load it up with the things that may be more difficult to do while in the hull. looks like I will need a hoist.

I decided to do something different in order to minimize cuting errors when it comes to the bulkhead holes. The problem comes from angles. If you rest the frame on the hull walls, its hard to correctly move frame for-and-aft for proper forward stringer alingment. If you first set the stringer brackets on the forward stringers, then you have a elevated boom tube. If you were to then mark the bulk head for cutting, it will be off. Instead, I decided to align forward stringers with their brackets and then to lower the frame into the hull and very, very carefully pull out the hulls walls and let the bulkhead settle in. Then I marked the holes to be cut from the inside. After the holes were cut, the frame lined up with minimal hole errors. I only reason I knew to do this is because of the several pictures I took at the open house. I noticed many SRs with aluminum patchwork at the bulkhead hole. Be careful to not crack the hull or gel coat. Yes, I was nervous in doing this, but seemed to work. Little file work later and we're done. Now pulling the frame out.
