Brief Description: Shop Set Up and Wings
|
|
This is my first log entry and I aim to get current and stay that way with this program.
Bought Bearhawk plans set #1207 in April 2011. With a move to a new home on the horizon, I began accumulating tools. EBay, Craigslist, Avery, ACS, Wicks, they all had my commerce. All tools were stored in a 53 foot truck trailer I own. (I'm in the business). Escrow finally closed on the new house in July 2011 and I was able to get my new 3,000 square foot, air-conditioned, with a urinal, attached to my house, work shop set up. My shop has more square footage than the house. Perfect!
In researching the build I learned that it should be done in some order. A lot of the builders complained they welded up their fuselages first and by the time they finished the wings build they'd had to sandblast the rust off their fuselages. So, I am building the all aluminum wings first.
Got the wing spars and ribs almost all formed up from a guy who decided to go with the kit built wings. Flanged all rib lightening holes, fabricated and riveted rib stiffeners to all ribs. (Photos to follow).
Next week I will begin assembling main spar.
